How Can I Help

Please report marked vultures (marked with wing tags) - dead or alive, it does not matter. It is important that you record the number on the wing tag, the date, and locality. If you can provide the exact coordinates from a smartphone, GPS, or even Google Earth, brilliant! A photo of the tagged vulture (it does not have to be star quality) will also be appreciated.
Start a vulture restaurant - vultures need good quality food. Just like you and me they prefer a fillet steak to junk food! If you do put out a carcass please make sure that it has not been treated with any drugs in the past ten days because certain drugs that are used on mammals (domestic and wild) are lethal to vultures. Also remove all bullets and fragments thereof. Lead poisoning causes a drop in IQ and loss of fertility in humans and we suspect it does the same to vultures. Provide them with water in the form of a shallow, saucer-shaped trough so that they can bath after they have eaten (you would also want a bath after wallowing in carrion or not?). An area near some trees where they can land and "check out the scene" before coming to eat is perfect. There should also be enough of a runway for them to land and take off, after all, they are big, heavy birds. Of course, try to stay as far away from power and powerline infrastructure as possible.
